CEO & founder of Mike H Abbott
Having grown up in West London, music was an important part of his childhood, learning to play the clarinet, flute and saxophone at a young age, before embarking on a nine year career as a musician in the RAOC Staff Band, playing clarinet. This gave him his love of travel and has been fortunate to visit Europe, Africa, North America and Asia.
He then joined Allders, Department Store, joining their Management training programme. After successfully completing this programme and gaining a Certificate in Management studies, at Guildford College of Technology. He worked in a number of different management positions. He then joined the Post Office where he was responsible for implementing the NVQ for drivers in their Parcel Office Depot. Mike also spent 20 years with Tesco, his previous position as a People Manager where he worked at various stores in the South of England. He has also overseen a broad range of functions including talent development, recruiting, employee relations and experience, business partnership, benefits, compensation, and inclusion and diversity. Experiencing an international secondment in Los Angles, USA.
Since leaving Tesco he has taken all his preceding life experiences and set up his own His Company; MikeHAbbott.com, which encompasses:
Executive Coaching, Human Resources, Workplace Mediation and Professional Speaking. His coaching style is business and results-focused, empathetic yet inspiring. He is motivated by enabling clients to get the results they seek from executive coaching. In his spare time he also sits on the board for a local charity in Hampshire, as Director of HR. Mike earned an MSc from Thames Valley University, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Business & Personal Coaching from Chester University. He also is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development.
